Bath Move Into Top Six After Beating Worcester 30-13

The Recreation Ground was the place to be after Bath put up a spirited performance to defeat Worcester Warriors 30-13 and end their winning streak in the Gallagher Premiership.

The win takes Bath to sixth position on the table with 17 points ahead of Worcester Warriors who are on the ninth position with 13 points on a table that has Exeter Chiefs and Saracens sitting comfortably on top.

While both teams went into the game without some of their players who had gone on international break, it was Bath that took advantage of the situation to secure their first victory in two months and end their winless streak.

The first ten minutes was deadlocked at 3-3 as Duncan Weir and Freddie Burns traded penalties for both sides.

The 25th minute was when Worcester responded powerfully to show intent as Ryan Mills leveled the scores at 10-10 to get the team back on level terms with Bath who desperately needed the win.

When the game resumed for the second half, Todd Blackadder’s men extended their six-point first half lead to 13 points when Tom Ellis scores a 47-minute try.

Both teams continued to put in the effort needed to run away with a victory but it was Elliot Stooke that grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck in the last 25 minutes to put the game at 30-13, effectively taking the game beyond the reach of Worcester Warriors who fought hard but could not get the victory against the resolute Bath side.
