FirstGroup is looking to add a train driver to its team on the route from Penzance to Exeter.
The role offers an attractive salary of £49,819 per annum and the company states that salaries will rise to around £62k by 2020.
While this position is for qualified train drivers, FirstGroup offers training programmes for graduates and those seeking a career as a driver. Beginners take part in a year-long training programme that involves practical training and learning in a classroom and on simulators.
FirstGroup has outlined the requirements for the role in their advertisement:
“You’ll need dedication and strong safety awareness. Disciplined and customer focused with a healthy respect for the rules and a strong commitment to providing punctual and reliable services, you must also be willing to make big sacrifices.
FirstGroup adds: “If you’re willing to learn, have high levels of concentration and can keep calm under pressure, you’ll enjoy driving a diverse range of trains across our network. And you’ll soon discover that driving a train is more than a job – it’s a way of life.”
“Together we will restore the railways as a very special way to travel – relaxing, fast, efficient, friendly and fun. If you share our passion for the railway then we would love to hear from you.”
Interested persons must be over 21 years and able to successfully pass a medical examination that involves hearing, eyesight and colour vision tests.
