Loungers Ltd, the firm that runs Cosy Club branches in Taunton and Bath, plans to establish two new restaurants in Somerset. They have submitted planning applications to Mendip Distict Council. If approved, the branches will be located in Wells and Street.
The documents (planning applications) they sent to Mendip District Council indicated that they will open the new branch in the Woolworths Store which is no longer operational. Richard Pedlar Architects were appointed by Loungers Ltd to prepare and plan the building to change its purpose from class A1 (retail) to class A3 (restaurants/café), including external and internal changes.
The documents also state that the branch will be popular amongst people of all ages, both locals and visitors. They promised that there will be no amplified music within the vicinity. Opening hours are set to be 8am-11pm Sunday to Wednesday, and 8am-12: 30 am Thursdays to Saturdays. 15 full-time jobs and 15 part-time jobs could be made if the plan is approved.
The documents state that the purpose of the former Co-Op Building Society’s premises will be changed from class A2 (professional and financial services) to A3 (café/restaurant). Loungers Ltd aims to create a food establishment which has an informal and comfortable ambiance for everyone to enjoy in a community, whether if it’s with family, friends, and neighbors. Board games for customers to play and newspapers to read will be available for free. They will also create a free neighborhood book swap facility.
Like the Wells branch, the documents state that there will be no amplified music on the premises. Opening hours could be at 8am-11: 30 pm Sunday to Wednesday, and 8am-12: 30 am Thursday to Saturday.
According to Somerset Live, they contacted Loungers Ltd for some comments about their planned branches. They said “it could not confirm or deny if there were plans to open new branches”. So then, we’ll have to see if the planned branches come to fruition.
