Here Are the Cornwall Towns with the Highest Crime Rate for 2018

Newquay is the town in Cornwall with the highest rate of crime so far this year with over 2,300 reported crimes, according to recent figures released by police.

The figures also show that while Truro had the highest number of reported crimes in the first quarter of the year and St Austell ranked highest in the second, the third quarter has seen Newquay overtake both with extremely high figures in recent months.

A statement released by Newquay Police said “Crime and antisocial behaviour linked to class A drug misuse or caused by street drinkers and rough sleepers has a negative impact on residents, local businesses and visitors to the town.

“Policing this issue is now a primary tasking for all officers at Newquay station. Student officers currently stationed at Newquay will focus over the following weeks to help tackle the issue of street drinking and associated antisocial behaviour.”
