HITZ Participant from Exeter Chief Scores Academic Achiever Award for Hard Work

Aidan Seal was awarded the Academic Achiever Award at the grand 2018 HITZ Awards. Recognized for his exceptional development in communication skills and commitment to education, he continues to work towards his goal of joining the Navy.

The event took place at the BT Centre, with prominent figures like former World Cup winner Maggie Aphonsi and present Leicester Tigers prop, Eliis Genge in attendance to celebrate the growth and diligence of its members in the programme.

Handing the award to Aidan, Tigers prop Genge says, “I’m sure that these guys will remember this for a long time – it’s nice to be recognised for how well you’re doing. It spurs you on to achieve more.”

Leaving school with no qualifications, through the support of HITZ, Aidan has achieved a lot. He says, “The lessons on the HITZ programme were good because they were made practical for you, rather than doing things with pen and paper, practically is the only way I learn. I struggle when it’s on paper so HITZ was great for me, the tutoring is the best I’ve ever had.”

“Personally I didn’t like school, I left school in year nine and I’m sure some of these kids have had similar things and the HITZ programme has helped them get back on track, whether it is BTECs or doing GCSEs again.”

Commemorating its tenth anniversary this year, HITZ, Premiership Rugby’s prominent education and employability programme, works with over 2,000 14-18 year-olds across England each year. Funded by Land Rover, Wooden Spoon, and Comic Relief, it is delivered across the nation through 13 professional member rugby clubs in England, using core values from rugby to teach young people.
