Hull City Suffer Bitter 1-0 Loss to Bristol City; Adkins Insists on Improvement

A stoppage time goal from Bristol City’s Famara Diedhiou, push Hull City closer to the edge of the Championship relegation zone. Yet their manager Niger Adkins refuses to be dispirited, making it clear he still possesses complete faith in his squad to turn their fate around.

David Marshall, Hull goalkeeper, made many fine saves, but was only able to parry a shot from Matty Taylor that Famara Diedhiou swiftly nodded into the yet, securing Bristol City their win.

When Hull played Bristol last season, their previous match last season was concluded at 5-5, with both sides scoring many chances. Unfortunately in this meeting, both sides were unable to duplicate their bountiful goals, despite having many chances in the first half of the game.

Adkins comments, “We could have been ahead in the first couple of minutes when the Bristol keeper has made a fantastic save and we just couldn’t take one of the opportunities we created. We had to reorganise because of injuries and I thought the players concerned did really well. It’s important that we keep believing in ourselves. I can’t ask for more in terms of effort, but of course we need to turn performances into points as soon as possible.”

Moving forward from a disappointing match, Nigel Adkins insists that Hull still has the quality and character to come out of the relegation zone.
