A delegation from South Korea visited Wiltshire with the purpose of learning western policies for rural economic development and how initiatives are developed at the local level.
The delegation comprised 23 government and central government county officials from South Korea’s ministries of agriculture, food, and rural affairs. Their only stop in the UK was at Wiltshire College’s Lackham Campus where they were hosted by Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership and Wiltshire College. The delegates went on to visit two other locations in France.
While at the Wiltshire Campus, they observed the work being done by the county in terms of rural economic development, which was a collaborative effort with the UK department for environment, food, and rural affairs. Wiltshire College went further to deliver presentations highlighting the courses they offer in agriculture, animal, land-based and life sciences.
The Wiltshire group thanked the embassy of the Republic of Korea for the opportunity to host the delegation. Wiltshire further recounts its achievements, noting how local businesses make a vital contribution to the economy of Swindon and Wiltshire, and how they are being supported.
