An elderly woman in her 70s was robbed of a purse by an unidentified man while she was shopping in Sainsbury.
The woman had withdrawn money at the Brunel shopping centre cash point in Sainsbury. It was around 10 in the morning.
While the woman was shopping, she noticed a man who was following her and staying too close to her. The man seemed to put his hand on her trolley. She, however, ignored the man and continued with her business.
The woman later realized that she had been robbed. Her handbag was zipped open, and a purse that had cash and bank cards were missing. She suspected the man who was near her had taken her valuables without her noticing.
The Wiltshire police are investigating the incident and have launched a manhunt for the thief. The police have released a CCTV image of a man they suspect was behind the robbery and asked shoppers in the city centre to be on alert.
Wiltshire police have put up a notice for anyone with information about the unfortunate incident. They are also requesting anyone who can identify the man to call Mark Sin the PC from South Swindon Community Policing Team on 101.
