Police urge public to be ‘vigilant’ after spate of fires in Somerset town

The public in Somerset has been urged to be more ‘vigilant’ after two vehicles went up in flames in Fome around 2 am on Thursday.

The police made the call following a spate of fire incidents reported in the Somerset town.

The force said an investigation is underway and it will treat the fire incident involving the vehicles as criminal damage.

Fire emergency services were drafted to a car park in Selwood Road, Frome, following reports two vehicles engulfed in flames.

“We were called to reports of two vehicles on fire in the car park area of Selwood Road at about 2am this morning.

“One vehicle was on fire and another vehicle nearby was undamaged.

“We are treating the fire as criminal damage and our enquiries are continuing.

“There have been a number of fires in the Frome area during the past few weeks.

“We are appealing for the public to remain vigilant and if they have any information to help our enquiries to contact us. Information can be provided anonymously.
