Bristol City will be looking to end a run of four successive defeats when they face bottom of Ipswich Town tomorrow.
Despite their good start in the season, things have gone awry for The Robins in the last couple of weeks. It began with their loss at Leeds United on Saturday, just five points above the relegation zone.
Let’s take a look at three reasons for their recent downfall:
- Andi Weimann’s loss of form
He started off in good form, scoring five goals in five games.
As an attacker, his poor performance is unacceptable, though he is not entirely to blame for the entire team’s downfall.
- Missing key figures
The absence of five key players is beginning to show in this season’s matches.
Aden Flint, Joe Bryan and Bobby Reid who left in the summer are yet to be replaced. In addition, goalkeeper Frank Fielding and influential defender Bailey Wright have not played this season.
- Lee Johnson
Even though one has to have some sympathy for Johnson because of those departures and injuries, he deserves his share of the blame.
His recent actions coupled with poor decision making should cause him to take a closer look at his plans and get out of this mess.
