Ben Currie, 23, is set to feature in the Bennett British Superbike Championship (BSB) next year for the first time. The German born Australian had quite a successful year with astounding performances in the Supersport races, winning laurels and making a name for himself.
He won a total of 7 Supersport races, and earned himself a spot on the podium a total of 11 times. This run of eye-catching performances resulted in a second place finish at the end of the season. In 2019, Currie will be joined by another youngster, Glenn Irwin for the BSB Championship.
Currie’s career has had a brilliant progression since he started off with motocross. He later moved down to UK where he recorded his first complete season of circuit racing. Having competed in the Superstock 600 and Supersport categories for a period of five years, the young and energetic racer is set to take on a new challenge in the premier class.
“I am absolutely ecstatic to be starting my new Superbike journey with Bournemouth Kawasaki this year and to be continuing as a part of the Team Green program,” said Currie. He also admitted that 2019 would be a time to learn, and that he is up to the task to keep up because he has worked so hard to get to where he is and where he would like to be – the top.
He had kind words to say about the team manager Pete Extance and the entire team at Kawasai for the opportunity to work with them, and he looks forward to mounting the Bournemouth Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR for the first time.
