Following the launch of five new transmitters in Cornwall and Devon, 19 further radio stations can now be received by listeners in the South West of England. The 5 transmitters, planted in Cornwall and Devon, are some of the 19 new transmitters launched in the UK. The new transmitters have expanded the coverage of the national DAB commercial network, reaching 4 million additional listeners in locations such as North East Scotland, South Wales, East Anglia and Kent.
The DAB commercial network currently broadcasts stations such as talkRADIO, Planet Rock, talkSPORT2 and Jazz FM. The stations that have been recently added include; Premier Christian Radio, Magic Mellow, Panjab Radio, Virgin Radio, Union Jack, Jazz FM, Magic Chilled, UCB 2, JACK Radio, Premier Praise and Sunrise Radio.
To receive the 19 new stations listeners in the areas where the new transmitters have launched should retune their DAB set by pressing the auto tune or auto scan button on the radio. They can also go into the radio’s menu and press auto tune.
The CEO of Digital Radio UK, Ford Ennals, said that the expansion of DAB digital sound’s coverage and the new line-up of radio stations mean that 83% of the population in the UK now has access to 44 top-notch national commercial and BBC radio stations on DAB digital radio.
